PA ~ When did you
take up your artistry and how long have you been involved with it? I started playing
guitar in the 6th grade after I heard the Beatles on the
radio. That had to be around 1964. I have always written
my own songs because I never knew you weren’t supposed to. PA ~ Musically,
how would you describe your sound/genre? Currently, I have
been leaning towards “Prog-Pop” and “Art Rock”. Take your
pick. PA ~ What
gravitated you toward your artistic work ? (See question #1). I
love this question because I think of myself more as an artist than a
musician. PA ~ Who are your
influenced by? Brit-rockers and
proggers. PA ~ I understand
you have a CD called Ear-To-Mind, what is the
listener / viewer in store for? Our CD,
“Ear-To-Mind” has actually been out for a couple of years. The
listener is/was in store for short intense compositions involving my
little observations of life. PA ~ How is the
CD being received? Everybody who hears
it likes it, but has trouble nailing down one specific influence. PA ~ Do you have
a favorite composition on the CD? “Men Are Like the
Water”. I still get goose bumps every time I hear it. PA ~ Will you be
touring to promote Ear To Mind? Not a tour, per se,
but random gigs where we can. PA ~ Any other
projects or followups in the works presently? Currently working
on our next CD. Considering that we are procrastinators, I don’t
expect it to be done any sooner than next summer. PA ~ Do you
perform solo or normally with a group? I write all my
material on an acoustic guitar as if I were a solo artist, but I like
performing it with the BIG sound of a band. PA ~ Any
performances coming up you'd like to plug? The second annual
Cleveland Prog Rock Fusion Fest on February 4th at The
Jigsaw Saloon in See www.cprff2.com
for details. PA ~ What would
someone expect attending one of your shows? A variety of tunes
and textures guaranteed to cause considerable mental awareness. PA ~ Do you
perform outside of your hometown? On occasion if the
cause is just, and we can at least break even. PA ~ During your artistic
journey so far, any interesting (funny, bizarre, highlight,
nightmare etc...) stories come to mind you'd like to share with us? One time when I was
in a cover band called “Time Bandits”, our road manager found a
revolver tucked in between the cushions of a booth in a bar we were
playing in. When he took it to the bartender to turn it in, the guy
thought he was holding up the place and put his arms in the air!
There were some anxious moments after that. PA ~ Give us
your thoughts on the indie music scene good and not so good. People call me a
“music snob” because I’m so critical. I just want to be
overwhelmed. I don’t get that too often, and I pride myself on
listening to college radio exclusively. I find more comfort in the
past. PA ~ How is
the artistic scene in Cleveland Ohio? There are little
pockets of creativity. It still has a long way to go to be
considered a major music hub. PA ~ What has
the highlight of your career been? Opening for British
Prog-rockers, The Strawbs.
Hands down! PA ~ What are
some goals you hope to accomplish in the future? If I could play in
front of a thousand people who are receptive to what INTRA
does, I would die a happy man. In the meantime,
I’ll keep writing and playing with my friends. PA ~ What are
your other interests outside of music? PA ~ What was
the best piece of advice you ever heard that motivates you in
pursuit of your artistry? You have to have
the passion to want to do it. Never stop playing. PA ~ Where can
someone find out more about INTRA ?
