Emotionally charged, sexy and modern, Celeste Lear is a skilled programmer, vocalist and guitarist who produces and programs down-tempo electronica and alternative music. Combining wicked beats, meaningful lyrics, enveloping melodies and luscious layering, this "diva of the digital domain" Is a hot up and coming talent.

Passionate. Emotional. Creative. This 28 year old electronic music programmer, front woman and skilled guitarist has emerged from Southern California's underground music scene with her talented four-piece band. Following numerous musical pioneers from Topanga Canyon, just northwest of Los Angeles, Celeste Lear breaks through the confines of gender labels in rock and electronic music by self-producing contemporary, emotionally-driven songs in her home recording studio. Masterfully fusing the musical styles of down-tempo electronica, alternative rock and jazz - and inspired by artists such as Bjork, Sarah McLaughlin, Beck, POE, Lily Hadyn, Moby and Portishead - Celeste crafts unique, visceral and modern, unorthodox music with personally illuminating lyrics, reflective of a female’s perspective on life and struggle in these contemporary times.

Granddaughter of the late Lear Jet and 8-Track Cassette inventor, Bill Lear, Celeste comes from a remarkably creative, world renowned family. Celeste is aurally unique in that she is actually deaf in one ear, an injury sustained in a car accident at age 16. Dubbed “One Ear Lear” by her friends, Celeste went on to study music theory at Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz and earned a degree in sound engineering and music business from San Francisco State University in 2002. Celeste then caught the ear of producer David Hauser (Supreme Beings of Leisure), Celeste recorded a batch of songs with him in Reno, Nevada in 2003 and shortly after returning to Topanga received attention from Arista Records.

Celeste Lear is currently playing and touring with her talented band and Celeste’s "gripping" new full length album was released on Boutique Electronique Records in February of 2006. It is now available for purchase at CD Baby and for download on iTunes. “I first heard Celeste Lear on Toucan Cove’s 2005 compilation “Femme Fatale”, which was a collection of female electronica artists. On her gripping and tantalizing album “The Echo Inside” she complements her laid-back downtempo electronica with dynamic vocals that ring with harmonic clarity. The beats are exploratory and don’t rely on the time tested normally dull breaks that so many artists turn towards. Funkiness is hidden behind several soundscape layers that finds Celeste whispering of tales that are fantastical yet somehow not too far from reality. Beautiful and engaging from the get-go. - Editor, Smother Magazine www.smothermagazine.com
