Singing Monk to Tour USA in June Yogi, mystic, poet, author and musician, Dada Nabhaniilananda, originally from New Zealand, has performed in every continent except Antarctica (and I understand his penguin connections are working on that). His second album Warriors of the Rainbow, featuring Daevid Allen founding member of Soft Machine, was produced by Harry Williamson of Gong, who previously worked with Sting, and with members of Genesis and Hawkwind. Dont miss Dada on tour this summer. In May and June he is touring the USA to promote his latest album, The Return of the Magic, and also his latest book on meditation, Close Your Eyes & Open Your Mind. His live performances are simply magical: the atmosphere I experienced & was spiritually breathtaking - Donald Moore - His music is spiritually uplifting, definitely, but were not talking mushy new age synthesisers here. Dada is a songwriter of the highest order. Frequently compared to Cat Stevens, or Simon and Garfunkel, he is a fine guitarist and an exceptional singer. What makes his music spiritual is that his songs touch your heart and leave you feeling uplifted, even blissful! With a superb group of musicians he has been able to capture the magical atmosphere of his recordings every time. In 1992 he performed with Paul Winter at the Earth Summit in Brazil. He has played at protest rallies, peace marches and ecological events all over the world. But Dadas music is not just about matters of the spirit. He writes about issues that move him - human rights in China (Hou Yi Shooting the Suns), Endangered species (Ocean of Tears - the song of the last Blue Whale), and ecological vision of the future (Warriors of the Rainbow), the Aboriginal resistance to the British invasion of Australia (the Chant of Pemulwuy), to name a few. But his views, clearly strongly held, are presented as stories, historical and mythological, creating powerful images and emotions - this is what makes his writing so real. What people say: I will happily proclaim that both simply hearing & also playing with Dadas' songs have caused my able bodied earthly elf to rise into the extra textural envelopes our ancestors called by many a colourful noun. - Daevid Allen - founding member of Soft Machine and Gong You may not expect this kind accessibility from a mystical monk, but Dada's songs grab your attention like a smile. - New Renaissance Magazine. Here we find storytelling of the first order. If you like The Decemberists, but cant always get what Meloy is on about. Listen to Dada, the message in the stories are clear as water. - Daniel Haven (Norway) the atmosphere I experienced during Dadas presentation & was spiritually breathtaking. - Donald Moore (KA, USA) Dada - I'm listening your most beautiful song - Call my Name - I don't really think there is anyone that can beat it &it is very powerful, the words and the music transport me to another state of mind. - Krsnapriya (Raliegh, NC, USA)
