Biography: Ray McAdaragh lives in Eastern Virginia with his wife and two sons. Dr. McAdaragh currently works as an Aerospace Research Scientist with the FAA and NASA, but has always considered music to be his first love. Because of all the various things Ray has accomplished in his life, his biography is featured in the 2006 edition of Marquis' Whos Who in America. Ray began playing lead guitar in rock bands when he was in high school in the late 60's, winning two battle-of-the-bands contests. Because of this, in 1969, his band "The Purple Train of Hope" was invited to play on a local, televised Saturday morning dance show in Dothan, Alabama, "The Preston T Show." While serving in the Army, Ray put together another rock band and won a Special Services battle-of-the-bands contest in Germany in 1972, providing him the opportunity to go on tour through North and South Bavaria for two months. While attending college in Virginia in 1976, Ray began playing acoustic guitar with friends and fell in love with Folk Music. He soon began writing songs about life's trials, tribulations, loves and dreams; not to mention the everyday mundane things as well. After living outside of Virginia for a number of years, Ray finally moved back for a fourth time in 1999. It was then that he learned that the Jamestown 1607-2007 commemoration was under development for the 400th anniversary of the very first permanent English colony in the New World. Ray had visited the Jamestown Site and toured the Fort with his elementary school class in 1960, and this impressive field trip has always been one of his fondest early memories. Because of this, Ray was influenced and motivated to express his enthusiasm for the Jamestown adventure to others through his music. He hopes that this Folk Musical Narrative CD "New World Destiny" will entice people everywhere to come to visit and learn about that great adventure that truly was the dawn of our Great Nation!
